Press Release Summary:
On 24th July at an event in Central London The Luke Bitmead Bursary, set up to
support fledgling novel writers, will announce their winner for 2008.

Press Release Body: Writers have been submitting their entries to Legend Press since
January 2008, hoping to win a cash award of Ł2,500 and a publishing contract from
Legend Press. Eleven lucky finalists have been selected and eagerly awaiting the
result at the event on 24th July. Legend Press are delighted to be working with
Luke\'s family to ensure that Luke's name and memory lives on. Luke was just 34 when
he died and was considered by all that had read his work as one of the UK's most
talented up-and-coming writers. Luke would have loved the idea of another struggling
talented writer being supported on the arduous road to securing their first
publishing deal.

Luke's first published novel was the cult comedy 'White Summer', published by Legend
Press in May 2006. The novel was re-launched on 28th June 2008 and is a fast-paced
and vibrant comedy, which we are confident will become one of the books of the
summer. The novel tells the story of Guy Chamberlain who is finding life so dull, it
makes his head throb. That is until heart-stoppingly-attractive Daisy walks in to
his life. Guy finds himself on a tour of coffee shops, parks and banks - anything
to see her again. This begins a hilarious rollercoaster that he finds himself
unable to stop. The novel has received a number of glowing reviews:
'Great stuff. Wonderfully witty and sexy.' Deborah Wright, best-selling author
'Reading White Summer is like a breath of fresh air' Roundtable Review
'White Summer is a page-turner, punctuated with humorous incidents that will ring
true to all men and women.' BBC Oxford Radio.
